Saequale - Laurence Rose
for 7 trombones: 1 alto, 3 tenors, 2 bass, 1 contrabass
The composer about his work: "One of the pleasures of writing for trombone is the enormous versatility of the instrument compared with all other members of the brass family. Its ability to blend or to contrast voices, its agility, the wide range of timbres and dynamics and its large pitch range. This piece is a condensed exposé of these features, reminiscent of the trombone Aequale of earlier years, but in a contemporary harmonic language. Otherwise, there is no particular programme to the piece."
